Dia de Los Muertos and an Exciting Tour of The Gulf Coast
On this 14 day Adventure Nation convoy, you will experience iconic San Antonio landmarks like the Alamo and the River Walk. Then we will roll down to the Gulf of Mexico, and spend some time camping on beaches and exploring coastal areas between Padre National Seashore and New Orleans.
Highlights will include exploring the World Famous San Antonio Riverwalk, including the Day of the Dead River Parade.
We will travel along the Gulf Coast and spend serene nights wild camping on beaches and staying in selected RV Resorts.
Bring comfortable shoes and a smile, and join us for an experience you won’t soon forget.
Each day you can travel along with us or blaze your own trail and meet us at the destination.

14 Day San Antonio to New Orleans Caravan Itinerary
Here is just some of the fun you can expect on your trip.
Check in at the campground and get settled in. You can explore San Antonio on your own or relax by the pool.
The evening will consist of getting to know your fellow convoy mates and an orientation of what to expect over the next 13 fun-filled days.
San Antonio / Alamo KOA Holiday
Today will be chocked full of fun!
You’ll visit the historic and iconic Alamo, Buckhorn Saloon & Texas Ranger Museums.
Take a boat ride on the World Famous San Antonio Riverwalk.
Enjoy dinner on the San Antonio Riverwalk, while watching the colorful Dia de Los Muertos River Parade.
San Antonio / Alamo KOA Holiday
After a busy couple of days in San Antonio, we’ll slow it down with some relaxing beach camping!
NOTE: Make sure you are ready for a few days of dry camping! Empty black and grey tanks and FILL fresh water tanks.
The drive to the Padre National Seashore rolls through some areas with amazing Texas history.
Drive direct down I-35 or head down through Goliad and uncover rarely heard Texas history.
You can choose to travel with us or blaze your own trail and meet us at the destination.
Mileage: 180 miles
National Park Pass or 7-day pass required
The Padre National Seashore is a beautiful national park that provides about 66 miles of undeveloped beaches and natural habitat. Padre Island is the largest undeveloped barrier island in the world.
Hang out at the beach with your fellow travelers or take a ride along 60+ miles of unspoiled shore line.
Conserve your water!
This short travel day will take us along the Gulf coast and coastal bays from Padre Island National Seashore to Magnolia Beach, TX.
Looking for a side trip? Check out “The Big Tree”, one of the oldest living and largest live oaks in the world.
Enjoy rolling through quaint coastal towns. If you’re into birding you’ll want to keep your eye open for Whooping Cranes who have just arrived after a 2,500 mile journey from Canada.
You’ll spend the night on Magnolia Beach. If you’ve brought your toys (and you should have), it’s time to break out your kayak or paddle boards and go for a float on Matagorda Bay.

By now you are a professional dry camping and beach camping expert and this next beach will not disappoint!
This next beach is one of our favorites and is one of the most beautiful beaches along the Gulf Coast.
Tonight we will share stories of things we’ve seen along the way and listen to the waves lapping on the shore.
Explore nearby quaint seaside towns or hang on the beach with the crew.

You’ve been off the chain for 4 days and now you can relax again with full-hookups! 🙂
This is a super short drive day, so the afternoon would be a good time to re-supply, relax, hit the pool or all of the above.
Later in the evening….Ice cream anyone!? 🙂

Stella Mare RV Resort
We realize many people like to do their own thing. Your morning is open to explore at your own pace. There are many interesting things to do and see in the Galveston area.
The afternoon will consist of a dolphin & Galveston’s Historic Harbor Cruise.
Tonight you will enjoy a dinner with your convoy mates at a restaurant in the Historic Galveston Seaport District.
After dinner you’ll walk off those calories in Galveston’s Historic Downtown Strand before returning to your resort.
Stella Mare RV Resort
Your morning will start with the longest ferry ride of the caravan (Galveston-Port Bolivar) and end with the shortest ride of the caravan (Cameron-Holly Beach).
If times allows, you’ll make a stop for an alligator walk along the way.
Your next 2 nights will be spent looking out over the blackness of the Gulf. Can you spot the lights of an oil rig off in the distance?
If you’ve got fishing gear with you, this is a perfect spot to cast off the beach and try to catch a red drum for a tasty dinner.

This beach is popular for shore fishing, but even if that’s not your thing, you have options.
You can kick back and relax, go for a nice long walk on the beach or take a kayak or paddleboard out for a float.
Enjoy the peace because NOLA is right around the corner!

Today you will enjoy a slow cruise through the moss covered bayous of southwestern Louisiana.
After arriving at the campground, we will head over to Avery Island, Louisiana for a tour of the Tobasco Factory.
You will see how this interesting product is made and get to taste some variations if you’re brave enough. Even if you’re not a fan of hot sauce, we’re sure you’ll enjoy seeing the history and the process of how it’s made.

Your journey is nearly done, but it’s far from over!
We will make our way through the southern bayous of Louisiana on our way to “The Big Easy.”
Speaking of bayous, we’ll make at stop at picturesque Bayou Segnette and take a ride on a swamp boat.
An experienced captain, will provide you with insights into the fascinating swamps and bayous. You may even witness the awe-inspiring presence of alligators up close and personal!
You’ll arrive in New Orleans in the early afternoon, get checked into the RV resort and head out to enjoy an evening in NOLA.
You’ll have enough time to enjoy dinner and tonight you’ll hit some of the cities hot spots, if you choose.
Bourbon Street, Cafe du Monde and even mingle with locals on Frenchmen Street, where the sound of music can be heard on every block.
Over the next couple of days you’ll experience New Orlean’s historic cemeteries, live music and wander the streets of this world famous tourist destination.

New Orleans, The Big Easy or, as the locals call it, NOLA, is full of historic, mystery and magic.
Today you’ll wake up not knowing what the day will bring.
Just know that we have a full day of fun and adventure planned for you on your last day with us.
All you have to do is let the day unfold in front of you and go with the flow.
This will be one of the longest days with us, and their could be some walking, so make sure you’ve got comfortable shoes on.
We know you’re going to have a great time today!!

Today is the saddest day of all, but their is some joy to be had.
You have now made friends that will last a lifetime!
You’ll get together for one last time for a morning coffee and it will be time to say goodbye to your fellow caravanners.
It’s not really goodbye, just until next time.
